3. How To Assemble A Bicycle

You got your bike, but now you have to take it out of its box and assemble it. Here is a video and written out steps on how to assemble a bicycle.

You’ll need the following tools:

4, 5 and 6mm hex keys Flat head screwdriver Philips head screwdriver Box cutter, cable cutter, or scissors Pedal wrench or adjustable wrench

Let’s get started!

1. Unbox

Take all bike parts out of the box and remove packaging materials.

2. Install Handlebars

Use a hex wrench to loosen the two bolts securing the stem face plate and remove the face plate. Place the handlebar in the stem and verify the brake and shift cables wrap around the frame without kinks or twisting. Reinstall the stem face

plate and bolts in place. Center the handlebar in the stem and rotate the handlebar to a comfortable position. Tighten the stem face plate bolts with the hex key.

3. Install Seatpost

Open the seatpost quick-release lever, then slide the seatpost into the frame. Ensure the seatpost is inserted past the minimum insertion line marked on the post. Close the seatpost quick-release lever.

4. Install Front Wheel

In the box, locate the quick-release skewer, adjusting nut, a tabbed washer, two springs, a second tabbed washer and the quick release lever.

Remove the adjusting nut, one tabbed washer and one spring. Insert the quick-release skewer through the front wheel axle, from the side opposite the brake disc. Reinstall the spring, narrow end first, and the tabbed washer, tab facing in, and lightly tighten the adjusting nut.

With your foot, remove the fork spacer at the dropouts. Lift the front of the bike and roll the wheel back. Ensure the brake disc goes into the caliper and the tabbed washers are on the outside of the dropouts, then lower the fork dropouts onto the axle. Rotate the tabbed washers so the tabs engage the holes on both fork dropouts. Tighten the adjusting nut.

5. Install Pedals

Use wrench to tighten. Pedals are side specific, check sticker.

6. Adjustments & Safety Check

Adjust seat height. It should be about hip level when you’re standing next to the bike.

7. Verify Brakes Work

Roll bike back and forth slightly while operating the brakes.
